国际著名钢琴家罗伯特·布洛克( Robert Blocker )是美国耶鲁大学音乐学院钢琴教授、耶鲁大学管理学院领导力战略兼任教授、耶鲁大学校长彼得·萨洛维高级顾问、耶鲁大学音乐学院前任院长。十年前，他第一次来到深圳钢琴音乐节，从此与深圳结下不解之缘。10月27日，布洛克教授将于滨海艺术中心为深圳听众带来一场充满色彩对比的独奏音乐会。

 

在弗曼大学获得学士学位（1968）后，布洛克在北德克萨斯大学师从于美国著名钢琴家理查德·卡斯，并先后获得钢琴演奏的硕士学位（1970）和博士学位（1972）。他也曾跟随著名音乐会艺术家豪尔赫·博莱特学习。布洛克于1986年成为哈佛大学教育管理研究所的研究员，并获得三个荣誉学位。

 

布洛克教授的钢琴演奏享誉全球，意大利时报《La Provincia》评价道：“他是一位技巧纯正的钢琴家——可以说近乎完美……他具有极强的敏感性和纯熟的技巧，能够体悟作品中的情感并将其倾注在演奏中。” 布洛克先生的演出足迹遍及美国、中国、英国、墨西哥、韩国、泰国、日本、古巴等国家。他对中国情有独钟，不仅到访中国35次，还曾与北京、上海、香港、苏州等交响乐团合作，在国家大剧院和上海大剧院等地举办独奏和室内乐表演。他是中央音乐学院的名誉教授，并在耶鲁大学北京中心策划了系列的艺术家活动。布洛克先生担任2008 年北京奥运会文化奥林匹克运动会的联合创始人，并先后应邀作为中央音乐学院、上海音乐学院、中国美术学院、南方科技大学等知名院校周年纪念活动的主讲嘉宾。同时，他还是AXL 音乐、上海九棵树表演艺术中心和深圳钢琴音乐节等艺术机构和艺术活动的国际顾问，以及香港中文大学（深圳）音乐学院全球高级艺术顾问。

 

布洛克先生是一位具有变革精神的艺术管理领袖。他到耶鲁大学就职前，先后担任加州大学洛杉矶分校艺术和建筑学院的创始院长、北德克萨斯大学音乐学院和贝勒大学音乐学院的院长。除了常年担任艺术管理和领导策略方面的演讲者和高级顾问，布洛克先生对于艺术财富的管理能力更被业界高度认可，在担任耶鲁大学音乐学院院长的二十八年期间，他把学院的捐赠从2900万美元增加到5.7亿美元。2005年他成功的募集到1亿美金单笔捐赠，为耶鲁音乐学院所有学生提供永久的全额奖学金，也使得学院能够吸引到全世界最优秀的年轻艺术家。耶鲁大学前校长理查德·莱文说道：“罗伯特是一位富有远见的领导者，对教职员工和学生的关心发自内心。”  

 

 

布洛克先生在钢琴家、教育家、领导者和社会活动家的多重身份之间游刃有余，这造就了他熠熠生辉的职业生涯。 他的成就不仅体现在他所培育的学生身上，也显现于他的全球影响力与持续贡献上。2000 年，施坦威钢琴特别邀请布洛克与范·克莱本和比利·乔尔拍摄了庆祝钢琴诞生三百周年的纪录片。 他的最新唱片将于今年由 Nimbus 发行，演绎耶鲁大学作曲家的八首当代作品；同时，耶鲁大学出版社将于 2024 年夏天出版布洛克先生的新书，题为《音乐：希望的流通货币》。

Robert Blocker

 

Almost a decade has passed since internationally acclaimed concert pianist Robert Blocker first appeared at the Shenzhen International Piano Festival.  Former Dean of Yale School of Music, Currently Professor of Piano and Senior Advisor to the Yale University President Peter Salovey, and affiliate professor in the Yale School of Management. He returns to our city on October 28th at the Bay Opera of Shenzhen.

La Provincia, the Italian newspaper, states that “He is a pianist of purified technique – one could say perfect…  he has an enormous sensitivity and the ability to recognize the emotional message of the work and pour it out in the performance.” Robert Blocker performs throughout the world, but his affinity for China is well-known to Chinese audiences, having performed with Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Suzhou, and other orchestras along with solo and chamber music engagements in all the major performance venues.  He is an Honorary Professor at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music and also curates an artist series at the Yale Center Beijing.

 

Among his many Chinese affiliations and collaborations are the co-founder of the Cultural Olympiad for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, keynote speaker for significant anniversaries of the Beijing and Shanghai Conservatories along with the Chinese Academy of Art, international consultant for AXL music, and member of the Advisory Board of the Nine Tree Performing Art Center and the Shenzhen International Piano Festival, and the Senior Global Artistic Advisor for the CUHK-Shenzhen School of Music.

Blocker’s worldwide engagements also have included performances in the United States, United Kindom,Europe,Mexico, Korea, Thailand, Japan, and Cuba. In 2000, Steinway&Sons featured Robert Blocker in its film celebrating the tercentennnial year of the piano along with Van Cliburn and Billy Joel.

Frequently sought as a speaker and consultant in arts management and leadership strategies, Blocker has earned a reputation for procuring financial support for the arts.  During his 28-year tenure as the Dean of Music at Yale, the endowment increased from 29 million to 570 million.  Former Yale President Richard Levin says that “Robert is a visionary leader who cares deeply about faculty, staff, and students.”

Robert Blocker has forged an inspired career as a concert pianist, an impassioned educator, and a transformative leader.  His efforts on behalf of classical music are best reflected in his students but also seen in his global service and board memberships.   His newest recording, eight contemporary character pieces by Yale composers, will be released by Nimbus this Spring, and Yale Press will publish the second book by Blocker in summer of 2024 entitled “Music: The Currency of Hope.”
